A Lesson on Sustainability: Foraging for Local Wild Edibles Traverse City, MI 04/26/2025
Foraging can be a very sustainable practice if done correctly. In this foraging class we are really going to focus on the wild edibles that most benefit the world by us harvesting them. Foraging is often thought of as only taking, but sometimes taking can also be giving. We will dive deep into the philosophy of why foraging is a good practice and not a negative for the world. The other subjects that will be covered will be:
Plant identification
Harvesting techniques
Tools for the harvest
Proper season of harvest
Use of invasive species
Reading the land
This Class will meet at the grassy area between Higher Grounds coffee (806 Red Drive, Traverse City, MI) and Pleasanton Bakery at 12:00PM and will last until approximately 3:00 PM. If there is any issue with finding the group, please call me at 231-649-1644
Class is held outdoors and in unpredictable Michigan Spring weather so make sure to dress for whatever weather is to come and bring water and a snack if you think you will get hungry.
Classes are only rescheduled for thunderstorms, light to medium rain is fine if you have proper gear. If there is to be a rain date, that will be the following day April 27th at the same time and place.
Kids 12 and under are ALWAYS FREE, with one caveat; they need to be able to not distract the rest of the class from their learning.
Refund Policy: Classes are refunded at 75% of the original cost of the class and will not be refunded within 6 days of the date of the class.
